Membership

 

The Torrey Pines Scale Soaring Society, Inc. (TPSSS) is a not-for-profit corporation whose purpose is to support and encourage the social, educational, recreational, and sporting activities of its members engaged in the building and flying of radio-controlled scale model sailplanes. TPSSS is a chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and therefore proof of AMA membership is a prerequisite for TPSSS membership. An AMA membership card or a receipt of paid dues fulfills this requirement. Membership in AMA provides liability and property damage insurance while operating model aircraft safely and with the permission of the site owner. Admission to the TPSSS is gained by tendering proper evidence of admission in good standing to the AMA, proper evidence for any required Federal Communication Commission license for operation as needed, and approval of the Membership Committee, and approval of a two-thirds majority of the general membership of the Society.
